Bailey hopes to take Australia A form back to Scotland with him

THE Scottish Saltires' overseas player George Bailey has been celebrating leading Australia A to a clean sweep of the two-match four-day series against Sri Lanka A in Queensland.

After leading Australia A to a 107-run victory in the first tour match, Bailey blasted 154 to set-up the hosts innings and 17-runs victory inside three days last week.

Bailey, the scorer of 260 runs at an outrageous 130.00 average, is returning to Scotland in time for the next Clydesdale Bank 40 game against Durham on 31 July at Citylets Titwood.

The Tasmania captain is hoping to continue in the same rich vein of run scoring for the Saltires.

"There's no bigger incentive for the modern cricketer, and the Saltires players are no different, than to finish a four-day game inside three days and to earn a day off," he said.

Bailey, who earned a call up for Australia's senior one-day tour of New Zealand in March, is hoping his outstanding form in Australia A and Saltires colours will lead to higher honours against England this winter.

"I feel pretty good with how everything is going at the moment so it was just nice for my batting form to fall into place against Sri Lanka A," Bailey said.

"It was pleasing that a scenario played out where I could play aggressively.

"I've batted pretty well. It's just a matter of sticking to what I want to do which is being consistent and hopefully I can do the same for the Saltires."

Bailey's next assignment is a Twenty20 fixture against Sri Lanka A on Saturday.
