Badminton: Susan Egelstaff and Imogen Bankier collect Irish titles

Susan Egelstaff and Imogen Bankier made it a double Scottish celebration when they both won titles on finals day at the Yonex Irish International in Dublin. Egelstaff, the No 2 seed, claimed the women's singles when she defeated Danish No 6 seed Karina Jorgensen 23-21, 21-11. It was the first win of the new season for the Glasgow 28-year-old.

Bankier and England's Chris Adcock, who won the Bank of Scotland International title in Glasgow two weeks ago, made it back-to-back victories in mixed doubles with a comprehensive 21-13, 21-11 win over Denmark's Christian John Skovgaard and Britta Andersen. Currently ranked No 81 in the world, the British pair were unseeded and the result again underlined their great promise.

This week, Egelstaff and Bankier and Adcock will be competing in the Italian Open in Rome. Egelstaff is the No 3 seed in the women's singles and Bankier and Adcock are the No 6 seeds in the mixed.
