Badminton: Denmark’s Tine Baun retires as a winner

Danish veteran Tine Baun ended her career on a high by claiming her third women’s singles title at the Yonex All England Open Championships. The 33-year-old seventh seed defeated 18-year-old Intanon Ratchanok of Thailand 21-14, 16-21, 21-10.

World No 1 Lee Chong Wei failed to win his third men’s singles title losing 21-17, 21-18 to Chinese second seed Chen Long.

China’s Wang Xiaoli and Yu Yang defeated unseeded compatriots Cheng Shu and Zhao Yunlei, 21-18, 21-10 to take the women’s doubles title, while China claimed another title in the men’s doubles as Liu Xiaolong and Qiu Zhan beat Japan’s Hiroyuki Endo and Kenichi Hayakawa 21-11, 21-9.

However, Zhao and Zhang Nan lost 21-13, 21-17 to Indonesia’s Tontowi Ahmad and Liliyana Natsir in the mixed doubles final.
