Badminton: Cooper so close at Kelvin

Edinburgh’s Jillie Cooper had a great debut alongside Renfrew’s Watson Briggs when they made it to the semis of the badminton mixed doubles at the Scottish International Badminton Championships at Glasgow’s Kelvin Hall.

Winner of the women’s doubles three years ago, the Capital 23-year-old has had a tough time finding a settled partner in doubles, but the new partnership’s run was only ended in three games – 19-21, 21-10, 21-17 – by eventual winners Kim Sorensen and Line Kjaersfeldt. “We beat two French pairs and an English couple,” explained Cooper.
