Badminton: Capital pair's Euro run ends

EDINBURGH badminton pair Emma Mason and Jillie Cooper claimed some impressive scalps on their way to the semi-finals of the women's badminton doubles at the Austrian International Challenge, writes ELSPETH BURNSIDE.

But the great run and the chance for a first victory of this season's European circuit came to an end in a close 22-24, 15-21 defeat from Naoko Futuna and Minatsa Mitani. The Japanese duo went on to lift the title in Vienna.

Glasgow's Susan Egelstaff missed out on the chance of her second European circuit title of the season in the women's singles when she also lost at the final four stage.
