Badminton: Blair climbs up rankings

Longniddry's Robert Blair, a qualifier in both events, had plenty reason for celebration despite losing out at the 16 stage of both the men's and mixed badminton doubles at the Victor Korean Open in Seoul.

His recent results have seen him soar up the world rankings. In the mixed doubles, Blair and England's Gabby White, surprise semi-finalists at last week's Malaysian Open, lost 13-21 19-21 to China's Chen Xu and Jin Ma.

Blair and Flandy Limpele had a chance to cause a massive upset in the men's doubles before going out in three games to the Korean No.4 seeds, Sung Hyun Ko and Yeon Seong Yoo.

The underdogs snatched the opening game 21-18 but lost the next two 15-21, 16-21 to the local favourites.
