Athletics: Weekend of success as Edinburgh athletes capture championship titles aplenty
Edinburgh plundered plenty of titles at the Scottish Age Group Championships at Grangemouth at the weekend.
Michael Olsen took both under-14 sprint titles in 11.79 secs and 23.79 secs and Kimberley Reed won two hammer titles, the under-18 with a throw of 52.24m and the under-20 with a much better throw of 54.71m.

Hide AdBeth Finlayson captured the under-20 100m in 12.64 and 200m in 24.20; while Faye Nicholson took the under-20 long jump with 5.61m.
One of the best under-18 races was the men’s 400m, where Robbie Stenhouse (Jersey) overhauled Ben Robbins (EAC) in 49.18. Glasgow’s Ross Maxwell pipped Morro Bajo (EAC) in the under-18 100m in 11.21 but Bajo gained revenge in the 200m in 22.13.
In the 400m hurdles, Seumas Thomson (EAC) defeated Jack Lowrie (Pitreavie) in 56.24.
Robert Ferguson (Lasswade) won the under-18 high jump with a leap of 1.86m.
Ferguson’s clubmate Ross Matheson enjoyed the Oban Highland Games, winning the 800m, one mile, two miles and hill race.
