Athletics: Scotstoun named venue for Super8 competition

Glasgow's Scotstoun Stadium has been confirmed as the venue for this year's Super8 athletics.

The competition, which pitches teams of athletes from eight cities against each other, was launched in Cardiff in 2009 and moved to Glasgow last year.

UK Athletics chief executive Niels de Vos said: "I am delighted to confirm the venue for Super8 2011. Glasgow City Council took hold of the event and really brought it on last year, and it is superb that they will once again host an evening of quality athletics competition.

"The spectators at Scotstoun stadium raised the roof last year, and the Glasgow City team was the strongest challenger to the eventual winners from London.

"This year they must be thinking they can go that one step further and take the Super8 title."
