Athletics: Guy Learmonth and Emma Nuttall set about records in Glasgow

GUY LEARMONTH (Lasswade) and Emma Nuttall (Edinburgh AC) were back among the records in the Bank of Scotland National Under-20 Indoor Championships at the Kelvin Hall, Glasgow.

Learmonth broke Eddie King's 17-year-old meeting record (1:51.11) in easily winning the 800 metres in 1:50.25, but was disappointed not to beat the British junior record or get near his own Scottish record (1:48.58).

Nuttall took the high jump with a leap of 1.81 metres to equal Jayne Barnetson's meeting record before just failing at a new Native record of 1.84m.

She already shares the Native best of 1.83m with Barnetson.

Tom Holligan (EAC) had an excellent double, adding the under-20 200 metres to his senior title of the previous week with a superb meeting best of 21.84 secs and also taking the 60 metres in 7.02secs.

Ben Robbins (EAC) who had beaten Holligan's Scottish Under-15 400m record in Birimingham the previous weekend, was just .01 sec outside the National Under-15 200 metres record in winning that title in 23.46 secs, while his sister Natalie won the Under-13 shot putt (9.46m).

Holligan, meanwhile, teamed up with Steven Charters, Isaiah Symonds and Greg Turnbull to take the National senior 4 x 200 metres relay title in 1:29.55, with EAC B third.

Other EAC winners on Saturday were Beth Finlayson in the Under-20 60 metres (7.74secs) and Faye Nicholson in the Under-20 long jump (5.71m).
