Athletics: Dublin sees return of new mum Jo Pavey

Commonwealth 5,000 metres silver medallist Jo Pavey will contest her first race since becoming a mother at the SPAR Great Ireland Run in Dublin tomorrow.

Pavey, whose son Jacob was born last September, has replaced European cross country champion Hayley Higham-Yelling, who withdrew from the 10km road race through illness. It will be the 36-year-old Devon runner's first competition for just over a year, since she took part at the Asthma 10km event.

Pavey, who was second at the Phoenix Park venue two years ago, faces a strong field including Australia's former world cross country champion Benita Willis and Hungary's three-time Olympian Aniko Kalovics.

She will be joined by Edinburgh's Freya Murray and Englishwoman Emily Pidgeon, who both have the ability to produce podium finishes.
