Athletics: Clegg targets more medals after Paralympic bronze

EDINBURGH sprinter Libby Clegg is adamant her best is yet to come at the IPC World Athletics Championship after claiming bronze in a controversial 200 metre race in New Zealand.

Controversy reigned in the final with Brazil's Ana Tercia Soares being somewhat harshly disqualified for a false start.

Clegg was forced into a long wait as Soares debated the decision with race officials but that proved no distraction as she crossed the line in third in 26.75seconds.

The 20-year-old still has the T12 100m - an event she won Paralympic silver in at the 2008 Games - tomorrow and she believes her 200m medal is just the start in Christchurch.

"It was hard being on the start line and the race not going," said Clegg who benefited from an Aviva-funded preparation camp prior to travelling to Christchurch.

"I was a bit confused as to what was going on but it turned out to be fine for me in the end. There was quite a strong head wind on the bend and I think I was a bit jumpy because I actually thought I had caused the false start."
