Arnie's drug days are terminated

THE controversial decision to invite Arnold Schwarzenegger to take part in the Vancouver torch relay – where he is due to hand over to Sebastian Coe – has been defended by the International Olympic Committee.

Schwarzenegger's inclusion in the relay has drawn criticism because of his admission that he took steroids in the 1970s when he was a body-builder.

IOC communications director Mark Adams said the former Hollywood actor, now governor of California, had "served his time".

The handover marks the final stage of the relay before the Olympic Cauldron is lit tonight.
