Anglo Allan follows his uncle with U18 call-up

Tommy Allan, whose uncle John played for both Scotland and South Africa as a hooker in the 1990s, has been named in the Scotland Under-18 squad for their meeting with Japan High Schools at Braidholm, Glasgow on Sunday (kick-off 2pm).

Allan, who plays stand-off or centre within London Wasps' youth set-up, qualifies for Scotland through his Glasgow-born father, Will, who played provincial rugby in South Africa and professional rugby in Italy. The rugby pedigree also extends to his mother, who played rugby for Italy.

Allan, educated at RGS High Wycombe, is listed in a 25-strong squad, which also includes three players who are still eligible for the Scotland Under-17 squad - namely Jonny Gray, younger brother of Scotland second-row forward, Richie, scrum-half Alex Glashan and wing Jamie Farndale. One further back will be added to the squad after tonight's under-17 regional matches between Caledonia and Glasgow and Edinburgh and Borders.
