Andy Murray & Davis Cup team honoured at Downing Street

Andy Murray and the triumphant Great Britain Davis Cup team have been welcomed to 10 Downing Street by tennis fan David Cameron.

The Prime Minister was joined by Murray and his team mates along with the trophy at the famous black door of Number 10.

Mr Cameron said he was delighted to welcome the team to Downing Street after their “sensational win” over Belgium in Ghent on Sunday.

Murray’s heroics, including singles wins and a doubles victory with older brother Jamie, sealed victory to give Great Britain its first Davis Cup success since 1936.

But Murray has given a downbeat assessment of the future of British tennis despite the extraordinary Davis Cup victory.

Speaking after the 3-1 win over Belgium in the final, the world number two said that “nothing ever gets done” when it comes to changing the direction the game is heading in the UK.
