Andy Murray & Amélie Mauresmo reunited before Australian Open

Coach Amélie Mauresmo was back at Andy Murray's side yesterday as the Scot prepares in Melbourne for the Australian Open, which starts this weekend.

The Frenchwoman has been absent since taking a break to have her first child, a little boy, Aaron, who arrived in August. At the time Murray dedicated his win at the Montreal Masters to the mum and her new arrival.

Now after a spell working with temporary coach Jonas Bjorkman, the British No 1 is looking to Mauresmo to guide him at the first grand slam tournament of the year as he aims to add to his career tally of two majors.

After playing alongside Heather Watson in the Great Britain team at the Hopman Cup in Perth, Western Australia, last week, Murray has eschewed this week’s final warm-up events for Melbourne in favour of a training lead-up in the city itself.

He won the US Open in 2012 and Wimbledon in 2013 but has yet to lift the Australian Open title despite four appearances in the final in 2010, 2011, 2013 and last year, when he lost to World No 1 Novak Djokovic in four sets.

“I love playing here and I’ve played some of my best 
tennis here,” Murray said yesterday. “If I keep working hard and giving myself opportunities, hopefully I’ll be able to win.”
