Andries Jonker to lead Bayern after Van Gaal departs

BAYERN Munich have placed their faith in Andries Jonker to lead them into the Champions League next season after Louis van Gaal parted company with the club. Van Gaal was sacked after Saturday's 1-1 draw against Nurnberg saw the giants of German football drop to fourth in the Bundesliga with five games of the season remaining.

Jonker, who was Van Gaal's right-hand man, has been placed in charge for those five games and given the task of leading the Bavarian club into the top three - something they remain confident of.

Victory sees Crawley take historic step-up

CRAWLEY Town secured league football for the first time in their history after Saturday's 3-0 win at Tamworth earned them promotion from the Blue Square Bet Premier. Town, managed by Scot Steve Evans, lead AFC Wimbledon by 14 points with their rivals having only four games left this season. Crawley's successful season also included a memorable run to the FA Cup fifth round where they lost to Manchester United, with whom they share the nickname 'Red Devils'.
