Ambrozy proves cream of the crop

Sauchie Juniors 2 Haddington Athletic 3

IN THE only South League game to go ahead, Haddington gave themselves a huge lift by taking all three points in a five-goal thriller.

Athletic took the lead with a scrambled goal from Michael Motion before Sauchie fought back and levelled the game with a strike from Steven Vintner.

Level at the break, Haddington introduced Tomas Ambrozy to the strike force. It quickly paid off when he gave them the lead again. Sauchie pulled level again with a super free kick from Vintner for his second of the game.

Haddington weren't to be denied, however, and Ambrozy scored the winner to take all three points.

The away side had Kevin Milne sent off, but this result puts a severe dent in Sauchie's hopes of taking the championship.

They have games in hand over league leaders Tranent but can't afford to drop any more in the run-in. Haddington, on the other hand, will look on this result as a springboard to take them away from the bottom of the table. They have been underperforming since the season began, putting the manager under pressure, and will now hope that they can put a string of good results together.
