Ambitious Lasswade host tournament

LASSWADE'S development as one of the most ambitious and progressive clubs in Scotland continues today with their annual pre-season tournament.

The Bonnyrigg outfit completed a mammoth exercise in launching new facilities last year and, with promotion to the top of the national leagues and Scottish shield success at Murrayfield achieved, they have set their sights on the Premiership.

Today, teams from Workington, Hamilton, North Berwick, Haddington, Musselburgh, Forrester, Peebles and the host club will challenge for the Lasswade Trophy (1pm kick-off), while the array of off-field entertainment includes live music, a laser clay pigeon shoot, quad bikes, a bucking bronco, the ubiquitous bouncy castles and pig roasts.

Entry is free to under-16s and 10 for adults. Lasswade RFC President Ian Barr said: "It's part of our drive to put Lasswade up there among the top clubs in the Scottish game."
