Alloa Athletic 3 - 1 Cowdenbeath: Battling Alloa's efforts are not enough

ALLOA came from behind to beat Cowdenbeath 3-1 at Recreation Park, but the three points were not enough for automatic promotion.

Cowdenbeath, themselves central in the title race, went ahead in 28 minutes through John Dempster, but Alloa dominated from then on. After John Armstrong had seen red for a professional foul on Bryan Prunty, Prunty equalised in the 73rd minute.

An Andy Scott double, the first from the penalty spot, then completed the turnaround but both these sides now face the play-offs.

EAST Fife just did enough to see Arbroath into the relegation play-off, after a 2-2 draw at Gayfield.

Bobby Linn gave the visitors the lead not long after the restart but Steven Doris equalised on the hour. David Muir went back up the park to restore the Fifers' advantage and Arbroath's Jamie Redman set up a tense finish, but it ended 2-2.

Clyde 4 Dumbarton 2

CLYDE'S first match under new boss Stuart Miller ended with a 4-2 win over Dumbarton, ensuring a positive end to a poor season.

An encouraging display started well as Willie Sawyers headed home in two minutes, and a John Stewart double made it 3-0 inside 20 minutes.

Ryan McStay pulled a goal back for Dumbarton, and after Aleksandrs Gramovics saw red Dennis Wyness made it 3-2 in 83 minutes. Adam Strachan capped a fine display with a fabulous fourth for Clyde as they ended with a deserved three points.

Stenhousemuir 1 Peterhead 1

STENHOUSEMUIR avoided the relegation play-offs on goal difference after a 1-1 draw with Peterhead.

Scott Dalziel had given the home side an early advantage, but Paul Emslie's 72nd minute equaliser had Stenhousemuir hanging on, as they knew a point would be enough.
