Allan’s big week on the national stage

SQUASH: Rosie Allan meets England’s Sarah Dowson in the final of the under-19 event at the Scottish Open at Heriot-Watt University today, and the Montrose Academy teenager will need more time off school this week when she earns her first Scotland B cap in internationals against Wales and England.

The 17-year-old sixth-year pupil is the youngest member of the B line-up and she will be joined by Montrose Academy former pupil Lisa Aitken, the Scottish No 1, Franya Gillen-Buchert, Mhairi Charlton and Claire Gray for the triangular starting at Heriot-Watt tomorrow.

“My goal this season is to play No 1 for Scotland at the European Junior Championships in Portugal at the end of March,” said Allan, who plans to study law at Edinburgh University.
