Alasdair Forsyth 'back to school'

ALASTAIR Forsyth's failure to survive the halfway cut in Hong Kong means the two-time European Tour winner is the second high-profile Scottish player heading back to the Qualifying School in Spain next month.

The 34-year-old, who has held a Tour card for the last 11 years, needed a top-six finish this week to climb into the top 115 on the order of merit.

However, rounds of 69 and 73 left him four shots below the cut mark and, having gone into the event lying 127th in the standings, he'll now join Marc Warren at the Tour School.

"I'm in this position because of schoolboy errors on the course," admitted Forsyth. "But, on the positive side, I will be going back (to the Tour School] as a much more experienced player."

Vowing to work his socks off between now and then, he added: "As soon as I'm back home in Scotland I'll be straight into it.

"I'll be up at Mearns Castle every day, boring myself to tears on the range doing the same thing over and over again. The bottom line is I must play better than I have been."
