Aitchison is new boss at Strollers

GARY AITCHISON, who has been performing the role of Director of Football at Whitehill Welfare, is back in management having taken over at Central Taxis Premier Division club, Civil Service Strollers, following the resignations of joint managers Keith Stewart and Andy Raeburn.

"It has all happened very quickly because I only asked permission from Whitehill Welfare to have a chat with the Strollers committee at the weekend and on Tuesday night I took my first training session," said Aitchison. "I have had itchy feet and wanted back into day-to-day management because I was missing the constant involvement. The Strollers ticked all the boxes. Having said that I have nothing but the utmost respect for Whitehill Welfare and especially their secretary Peter McGauley who has been quite superb in these negotiations. I was at Whitehill a long time in various roles including managing their U19 side and then the East Seniors.

"There are probably four or five teams currently in a position in the Premier Division who could potentially get relegated, including the Strollers, so we definitely need a couple of good results very soon."

Aitchison has appointed Andy Jack as his assistant while Ricky Clapperton will continue as coach and Kenny Dickson remains as the club physio.

Keith Stewart, the outgoing joint manager who will remain as secretary, said: "Andy and myself would like to thank the committee, management and players for their support over the past four years and wish them every success in the future."

Tom Brown, the Strollers general manager, added: "We met with Gary last Sunday, told him what we had to offer as a club and what our expectations would be and he agreed to become our manager. We are all delighted."
