African Nations Cup to be held every odd year

THE African Nations Cup finals will be held in every odd year starting from 2013, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced yesterday.

It means there will be two tournaments in successive years, with Equatorial Guinea and Gabon co-hosting the next one in 2012 and Libya holding the 2013 event.

CAF made no reference to a possible change in the timing of the tournament from the start of the year to June and July, which many leading European clubs have requested.
