Open morning at High School of Dundee: Get your child ready for the real world

The High School of Dundee is figuratively and literally at the heart of the city. Its unique location helps create fully grounded young people who are connected to the real world and understand the importance of being themselves and finding their passions.
The independent school delivers on all levels from ages 3-18, from its excellent pastoral care and facilities, to co-curricular opportunities and a focus on future skills.
The School has a long-established track record of outstanding exam results: 98% of the class of 2024 received offers for their course of choice. The wide curriculum opens options for all, with pupils going on to study courses ranging from engineering, art and languages, to marketing, medicine and sciences. 24 subjects are offered at Higher level and 24 at Advanced Higher. University is not the goal of every pupil, and the School ensures pupils find their own passions and inspiration, then maximise their skills, talents and potential so they can make ‘their’ future happen.
It’s a setup that ensures that anything is possible for the School’s alumni. The work and achievements of FPs like Eilish McColgan, Neil Forsyth, Mandy Haeburn-Little and Brian Taylor are well known, but the success of many lies outside the public eye and spans a diverse range of sectors. Rector Lise Hudson is perhaps most proud of the calibre of young person who leaves the school ready to go on to follow their chosen path. She explains that all their young people learn to be connected with real life, and how they can contribute to their community. For older pupils that could be through volunteering as part of the Duke of Edinburgh programme, or with other organisations, and having discovered a passion for it, many continue this work long after they have left the school.

With a school open morning taking place on September 21, and a separate date planned to tour the excellent sporting facilities at nearby Mayfield, potential parents will be welcome to visit with no-obligation at all, meet staff and pupils, ask as many questions as they like and leave with no pressure at all to make a decision on their child’s future.
Mrs Hudson added: “When parents make the choice to invest in an education for their children - and that’s what it is, an investment – they are buying into an environment where opportunities will be available for their children, to find the things that make them tick, engage them in their learning and to develop skills for life. Don’t take our word on what we can do for your child – come and see for yourself!”

The wide catchment area covers Dundee, Perthshire, Angus and Fife, with dedicated buses to take pupils to and from the school each day.
You can register for the open morning online, or simply turn up on the day – you are guaranteed a warm welcome and the chance to see for yourself. Find out more here.
