Christmas is a time for cosy fires, convivial company and a warming dram of the finest malt whisky. And where better to enjoy it than at Scotland’s oldest working distillery?

Around an hour from both Edinburgh and Glasgow, The Glenturret Distillery nestles in a beautiful glen at Hosh, near Crieff in Perthshire. History and

Visitors can explore the art of traditional whisky-making on a guided distillery tour, discovering the processes of mashing, distillation and maturation. There are also opportunities to sample the whisky range with a curated flight, enjoy a memorable dining experience at Two Michelin star The Glenturret Lalique Restaurant, or enjoy an overnight stay at onsite Aberturret House.

Whether treating yourself or searching for a special Christmas present, there is plenty to choose from: limited edition whiskies, tours and tastings, dining experiences and overnight stays. Gift vouchers are also available in various denominations and can be redeemed online at theglenturret.com or against an onsite experience.

Taste the whisky

Enjoy a curated whisky or cocktail flight in the informal Dram Bar, open daily from 11am, or soak up the elegant surroundings of the Lalique Bar, open Thursday to Saturday from noon.

Alongside its malt whiskies, The Glenturret serves a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, including wines, spirits and its own Aberturret Gin.

The core whisky range includes the Triple Wood, 12 and 15-year-old expressions, while visitors may also have the chance to sample limited editions and rarer bottlings.

As one of the most southerly Highland malt distilleries, Glenturret has a distinctive flavour profile. Southern Highland malts are typically softer, lighter, fruit-forward and dry, with The Glenturret range offering particularly fruity, floral and sweet notes. Much of the whisky is matured in sherry casks, and the core range is now entirely unpeated.

Experience the hospitality

The Glenturret is an ideal destination for a day out, with the surrounding Crieff area offering plenty more to explore. And with whisky flights starting from £40, depending on the rarity and value of the malts, there is plenty to tempt the palate.

The Lalique Bar's food offering goes well beyond traditional snacks. Choose from Lindisfarne oysters, caviar, Glenturret focaccia, padrón peppers with whipped roe, veal sweetbreads, prosciutto crudo, salt 'n' malt fries, salads and delicious desserts.

For a more indulgent experience, The Glenturret Lalique Restaurant offers exceptional dining, with seasonal tasting menus created by executive chef Mark Donald. Awarded two stars in the 2026 Michelin Guide, the restaurant also offers paired wines curated by head sommelier Margaux Houghton and restaurant manager Claude Millée.

For an extra-special occasion, guests can stay at The Aberturret Estate House, a 19th-century dower house overlooking the River Turret, set among trees and beautifully maintained gardens. Formerly owned by the Murray Clan, this private retreat welcomes restaurant diners from Wednesday to Saturday and can also be booked exclusively for parties of up to 12 guests.
