Vintage Austin car rally in Melrose welcomes enthusiasts, families and locals to a fun, free day out
The Scottish Vintage Austin car rally will be held on Sunday, September 22, at the Triangle, next to Melrose Rugby Club.
Evoking a bygone age, there will be a wide variety of Austins to see – in fact a bumper entry of more than 50 is expected.
But that’s not all – there are free goodies up for grabs.
To keep energy levels high, coffee, soft drinks and cakes will be on sale at the coffee truck @coffeeinc_borders, and full bar facilities are available in the rugby club, as well as the toilets.
The George & Abbotsford Hotel and the Scottish Vintage Austin Enthusiasts Club have been planning the free event for many months, ensuring there is a great day out for everyone, locals and tourists alike. They were keen to also include fundraising for the My Name’s Doddie Foundation.
About the car club
The Scottish Vintage Austin Enthusiasts Club was formed in 1995 and caters for all Austins up to 1950. They have a membership of mainly post vintage owning enthusiasts, however, all owners with all makes of Vintage and Classic Cars are welcome to join. Their rally gazebo and stand decorations attract some admirable attention with the cars certainly being the centre of attention.
They expect a number of Austin models in Melrose:
– Austin Sevens
– Austin Tens
– Austin 12s
– Austin 16s
