What’s On In Scotland: Five things to do tonight

Lawson are a conspicuously telegenic four-piece indie-pop quartet with a style somewhere between a grown-up One Direction and Mumford & Sons. They’ll be performing at Edinburgh’s The Liquid Room perfoming hits When She Was Mine, Standing In The Dark and Taking Over Me.

THEATRE: ONE, TWO, THREE, YIPEE

One, Two, Three, Yipee is a Scottish drama about three siblings desperate to escape their dwindling town. The show explores whether their desire to escape is just a childish dream or a plausable reality. The show is brought to the stage by the same minds behind the sell out show Death is the New Porn and Blazing Hyena.

COMEDY: POETS AGAINST HUMANITY

Poets Against Humanity has been described as “bringing their horrible humour based on the horrible boardgame to a horrible pub near you”. Based on the cult board game Cards Against Humanity, the show involves a live comedy panel show. Performers will be inserting rude things into works of great literature, in order to shock and entertain at the same time.

EXHIBITION: MODERN SCOTTISH WOMEN: PAINTERS AND SCULPTORS 1885-1965

The National Gallery will be hosting a large-scale exhibition of over 90 works by Scottish female artists drawn from the National Galleries of Scotland’s holdings and other public collections from throughout the UK, as well as from private collections. Those women featured in the exhibition include Catherine Read (1723-1778), Joan Eardley and Anne Redpath. The conditions that female artists faced as students and practitioners are explored as the exhibiition uncovers and celebrates women’s important contribution to a vital chapter in Scotland’s art history.

FILM: THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY PART 2

Though the final installment of the Hunger Games franchise is scheduled for a UK-wide release on the 19th, you can catch it in cinemas late tonight/tomorrow morning if you’re particularly desperate to see it. Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and her allies Gale (Liam Hemsworth) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson), go behind enemy lines to put a stop to President Snow’s (Donald Sutherland) cruel reign once and for all.
