MUSIC: THE VIEW

Scottish indie rock quartet The View are playing their second show tonight at the Liquid Room in Edinburgh, which is also the penultimate night of their Ropewalks tour. Their fifth studio album was released in September and was produced by The Strokes’ Albert Hammond Jr. The band scheduled these last three nights in Edinburgh after previous tour dates sold out.

EXHIBITION: SCIENCE OF SOUND

A fun exhibition for all ages, the Dundee Science Centre’s Music Mayhem: Science of Sound teaches the science behind creating and hearing sound. Running different shows throughout the day, the exhibition is a fmaily-friendly day out. Shows include the Science of Sound, a show which teaches how sound travels through different mediums and how your brain interprets it. Meanwhile, Musical Mystery Bus is aimed at children under five, and promises to take your wee nippers on a voyage of discovery. Runs

THEATRE: THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST

Oscar Wilde’s wicked satire on Victorian social mores remains one of the writer’s most beloved works, and you can see it again in Pitlochry Festival Theatre tonight.

In the play, two friends attempt to woo two women, Gwendolyn and Cecily, who both pine for a man named Earnest they’ve never met. A complicated love pattern – not quite a triangle – provides the thread that Wilde tugs at to send up the triviality of Victorian society.

EVENT: GRACE NDIRITU: A RETURN TO NORMALCY

The Glasgow School of Art is to stage the first major UK solo show by Grace Ndiritu at the Turner Prize fringe.

Grace Ndiritu’s specially commissioned film, made in the Mackintosh Building and titled A Return to Normalcy – Birth of a New Museum, will be the show’s centrepiece.

Her first solo UK show since 2007, her painting and photography will also be on display alongside a new performance piece, Holotropic Breathing for the Masses: An Afro-futuristic Performance.

TALK: INNOVATIONSPACE: SPACEPORT

Steve Lee, CEO of Stevenson Astrosat and Stuart McIntyre of Prestwick Spaceport are giving a lecture on Scottish aerospace to celebrate the launch of national Space Week.

Spaceport will tell the captivating story of Scottish aerospace and space endeavour as they explain Scotland’s leading role in the industry.
