FILM: ORION: THE MAN WHO WOULD BE KING

Filmmaker Jeanie Finlay follows up her documentary The Great Hip Hop Hoax (the story of two Scottish guys who break the US hip-hop scene with faux American backstories) with the tale of Orion - a masked performer from the late 70s whose similarities to ‘The King’ meant he filled an Elvis Presley-shaped void in many people’s lives after his death. An interesting insight into what it’s like to be trapped between adoration and anonymity.

COMEDY: THE THURSDAY SHOW

This weekly event at The Stand Comedy sees five acts in a two-hour comedy showcase. Tonight boasts the stand-up stylings of Bathgate comedian Fern Brady, who will be trying out new material following a well-received first hour at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

The biggest boyband in the world (Since 5ive called it a day, anyway) will be packing out the SSE Hydro tonight as part of their ‘One The Road Again’ tour. Expect a sea of screaming young teeny-boppers, and a smattering of designated driving Dads with their arms folded.
