MUSIC: SPACE

The band behind the toe-tappingly infectious 1996 single Female of the Species play live tonight at Edinburgh’s intimate Electric Circus. After a six-year break Space reformed in 2011 and put out their latest full-length release, Attack of the Mutant 50ft Kebab, last year. Their next album, Strange World, is due out in March 2016.

FILM: CONCERNING VIOLENCE

Trendy arts venue The Glad Cafe is putting on a special film screening as part of brand new eight-day festival The Only Way is Ethics. Concerning Violence takes a stark look at the struggle for freedom in the developing world with the help of archive footage. Göran Olsson’s 2014 documentary is based on Frantz Fanon’s essay of the same name and has received universal acclaim since its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival last year.

SHOPPING: CHRISTMAS FAYRE

Adults and children alike are welcome at Stirling Castle’s annual Christmas Fayre this evening, with stalls full of fine food, drinks and lovingly made local craft. This evening event will help you kick off your Christmas shopping, if you haven’t already, and undoubtedly get you in the festive spirit.

EXHIBITION: THE ROSE STREET PROJECT

Take a wander along Edinburgh’s Rose Street and enjoy a unique, urban art exhibition, organised especially for the Christmas season. The Rose Street Project brings together the work of 10 different Edinburgh artists, from printmakers to puppeteers, and displays their collaborations in the shopfronts of various Rose Street shops. Everyone from Social Bite café to the Rogerson & Sons shoe shop are involved, uniting the Rose Street community and making the place look prettier at the same time.

DANCE: THE LAST TANGO

Strictly Come Dancing stars and World Dance title-holders, Vincent Simone and Flavia Cacace, perform their last live tour together after 20 years as dance partners. Their appropriately named show The Last Tango is sure to be a moving yet characteristically sizzling final number as the curtain closes on this talented pair.
