MUSIC: THE VIEW

Dundee’s mischievous indie-poppers do their thing tonight in the O2 Academy, Glasgow. If you can believe it, their UK tour is in support of fifth studio album, Ropewalk. Expect sticky floors, unwashed jeans and an energetic performance from Kyle Falconer and co. Support comes in the form of The Bar Dogs and Twin Pines.

THEATRE: THE WITCHES

This year sees Dundee Rep Theatre put on their third Roald Dahl-inspired Christmas production, The Witches. Perhaps the most creepy story from the celebrated children’s author, the stage production brings the tale of one boy and his grandmother finding out the truth about witches to life.

FILM: STATELESS IN LESVOS

Stateless In Lesvo is a 25-minute eyewitness report tells the story of refugees at the frontline of the crisis on the Greek island. The documnetary focuses on the refugees and the working class citizens of the country, itself emerging from a state of turmoil. A Q&A with director Guy Smallman will follow.

COMEDY: THE STAND CHRISTMAS SPECIAL

Hosted by Bruce Devlin, The Stand Christmas Special features a line up comprised of Gavin Webster, Mary Bourke, Ray Bradshaw and Gary Meikle. There is the option to pop along for the comedy only, or get stuck into a Christmas dinner including options of turkey Wellington and pan fried duck taco. Home cooked grub and comedy, what better way to spend a Wednesday evening?

DANCE: THE ROYAL BALLET: THE NUTCRACKER

For any fans of ballet, The Nutcracker is synonymous with Christmas. Telling the magical tale of Clara and her family, Peter Wright’s production pays much homage to the original Tchaikovsky score and the Ivanov choreography, including the pas de deux for the Sugar Plum Fairy and her Cavalier.
