Venue confirmed for Norway-Scotland friendly match

The Norwegian Football Federation confirmed that the match between the two sides will take place on Tuesday November 19th at Aker Stadion, the home of Tippeligaen outfit Molde FK who are managed by former Manchester United and Norway striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Molde won the Norwegian top flight last season, for only the second time in their 103-year history, as Solkskjaer guided the club to a second successive title win.

Scotland 0-0 Norway, October 11th 2008

Although the game is largely remembered for Chris Iwelumo missing a sitter, the aftermath of the match was dominated by Kris Boyd’s announcement that he was quitting international football after Iwelumo was preferred to the former Rangers striker.

Iwelumo’s miss meant Scotland passed up the opportunity to strengthen their hold on second place in their World Cup qualifying group.

Norway 1-2 Scotland, September 7th 2005

A first-half brace for Kenny Miller was enough to give Scotland a 2-1 win over the Norwegians, with Ole Martin Arst grabbing a late consolation goal.

The win kept the Scots’ World Cup hopes alive as they continued to blossom under Walter Smith’s stewardship.

Despite the victory, Scotland finished in third place behind Norway, missing out on yet another major tournament.

Scotland 0-1 Norway, October 9th 2004

James McFadden was sent off after using his hands to stop a goal-bound effort, with Steffan Iversen scoring the resulting penalty to give the visitors a 1-0 win at Hampden.

The defeat left Berti Vogts and Scotland with just one point from two qualifiers, and gave Norway their only win against the Scots in ten games.

Craig Burley’s second-half equaliser briefly revived Scotland’s hopes of reaching the second round of the 1998 World Cup, following their narrow defeat to Brazil in their opening match.
