MITCHELL Vaan Der Gaag, the frontrunner for the vacant managerial position at Motherwell, is poised to be announced as Stuart McCall’s replacement as talks continue over the club’s takeover by supporters.

The Well Society are reportedly in advanced discussions over buying out the club, and the fans’ group is just one signature short of concluding the deal.

Millionaire Les Hutchison, currently in the Bahamas, is expected to put pen to paper shortly.

Meanwhile, caretaker manager Kenny Black will continue to take charge of the team as they prepare for a league fixture against Ross County.

Van Der Gaag, a former Netherlands U21 international who enjoyed a two-year spell at Motherwell, is the bookies’ favourite to take the hotseat after Terry Butcher, another figure familiar to the club, ruled himself out of the running.
