Todd Lumsden is dismissed by Albion Rovers

ALBION Rovers have parted company with manager Todd Lumsden just a few days after the Coatbridge side were relegated from the Second Division following a 4-1 defeat at Alloa.

The 35-year-old took over the reins from Paul Martin last May. However, the decision to remove him from office was made just before Tuesday night’s 2-0 defeat by Brechin City.

The Cliftonhill side gave Lumsden a vote of confidence only two weeks ago and he had started contract negotiations with players for next season, but a change of mind by the club’s board appears to have taken place.

Despite his sacking, the former Stirling Albion, Hamilton Accies and Raith Rovers defender was asked to take the side for their last two games of the season and he said: “I do not want to discuss things at the moment. I took the team at Brechin and will do so against Queen of the South and I will leave it at that for just now.”
