Stars to descend on Glasgow for Scottish Style Awards
Now the countdown has begun to the Scottish Style Awards ahead of celebrations to mark the tenth anniversary of the event’s launch – with the announcement of this year’s contenders.
Singer-songwriter Paolo Nutini, publisher Jamie Byng, Game of Thrones star Rose Leslie and tech tycoon Pete Cashmore will be among the contenders at the ceremony later this month.

Hide AdHip hop outfit Young Fathers, the reigning Mercury Prize winners, model-turned nutritionist Rosemary Ferguson, Macbeth star Kayla Fallon and Craig McGinlay, who starred with David Beckham in his whisky advert, are all in the running.
The event, which has been based in Glasgow since its inception, will be returning to Kelvingrove art gallery and museum on 24 October and will be hosted by rising acting star Sophie Kennedy Clark.
Up for most stylish female are Ferguson, who has previously fronted fashion campaigns for Chanel and Dolce & Gabanna Leslie, who has also appeared in Downton Abbey, Caroline Rush, the Glasgow-born head of the British Fashion Council, concert promoter Grainne Braithwaite and fashion boutique owner Sarah Murray.
Mashable’s Aberdeen-born creator Cashmore will be competing with Canongate founder Byng, Nutini, New York-based restaurateur Brian McGrory and Glasgow actor David O’Hara will contest the “most stylish male” category. Young Fathers and indie rockers Franz Ferdinand are nominated for most stylish band or musician along with new electropop outfit White, who have just been confirmed for Edinburgh’s Hogmanay celebrations; Ladytron’s frontwoman Helen Marnie,;and James Jeanette, singer with Wild Daughter.

Hide AdContenders for the hotly-contested designer of the year honour are the multi-award-winning Jonathan Saunders, Edinburgh College of Art graduate Holly Fulton, Dunhill’s creative director John Ray, Eilish Mackintosh, who is working as a textile designer for Parisian fashion house Lanvin and Angela Bell, founder of cashmere brand Queene and Belle.
McGinlay, who appeared in Beckham’s advert for his Haig Club whisky brand, and Fallon, who played one of the witches in Macbeth, are nominated for breakthrough star of the year.
Also shortlisted in the same category are fashion designer Jonathan Douglas, who was recently snapped up by Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein, Pretty Green model Oliver Greenall and sunglasses brand Tens.
Glasgow dominates for the shortlist for Scotland’s most stylish venue, with four out of the five nominations. However there are contenders from Troon, in Ayrshire, Dundee, St Andrews and the Borders in the running for the likes of most stylish bar, restaurant and hotel.
