Isle of Skye Candle Company was founded in 2007 by James Robertson, who was brought up in Glasgow by parents who hail from the Hebrides.

After leaving university, and with a modest investment from his brother, he started the business in a grassed-roofed bothy on his uncle’s croft.

The opening of the Glasgow store, which marks a substantial five-figure investment, will add to branches already operating in Edinburgh, Inverness, Skye and St Andrews.

Robertson, 27, said: “I feel very proud of our small team and how much we have achieved to be opening our flagship store beside some of Europe’s biggest retailers.

“The quality of the product is so important to our growth but without our dedicated team and loyal customers none of this would be possible.”
