Scotland’s women face Germany and Iceland

SCOTLAND’S women will resume their preparations for the 2015 World Cup qualifiers with friendlies against Iceland and seven-times European champions Germany in June.

“These will be two very tough, but exciting matches,” said coach Anna Signeul, whose side beat Wales 2-1 at East End Park on Sunday to extend their unbeaten run to four games.

“To continue our progression we must test ourselves against the best opposition, and it doesn’t come much more challenging than an away match against Germany.

“We have already faced world No 1 side USA earlier this year, and the players are looking forward to the prospect of playing against the top-ranked nation in Europe.”

The match against Germany is in Essen on June 15, with the Iceland game in Reykjavik a fortnight earlier.

Scotland will know their World Cup group opponents a week today when the qualifying draw is held. There are eight European places available for the finals in Canada. The Scots, who are the 12th ranked team, are among the second seeds.
