Referee ‘to be investigated’ following Scotland v Australia

The head of World Rugby Brett Gosper has suggested that controversial referee Craig Joubert “may have needed the bathroom” after he ran off the pitch following his decision to penalise Scotland in the dying seconds of yesterday’s Rugby World Cup quarter-final.

The incident which led to the penalty, subsequently kicked by Australia stand-off Bernard Foley, has caused debate but the South African referee’s actions in heading straight down the tunnel rather than stay on the Twickenham field to shake hands with the teams has attracted even more ire.

Nurse Pauline Cafferkey in ‘stable’ condition

Scots nurse Pauline Cafferkey is now in a “serious but stable” condition after being readmitted to hospital for treatment for Ebola.
