Countdown champion bottled Glenrothes Asda worker

Richard Brittain, an English former Countdown champion, travelled to an Asda store in Scotland and attacked a teenager – because she criticised his book.

Brittain made his way from Bedford to Glenrothes in Fife after using Facebook to track victim Paige Rolland, 18, at her work.

The 28-year-old arrived at the store where she worked and attacked her with a wine bottle to the head from behind, knocking her out.

Woman ‘delighted’ at chance to meet George Clooney

A wedding planner has won a charity competition to meet actor-director George Clooney later this week. The charity competition was being hosted by cafe Social Bite, after owner Josh Littlejohn approached him about being the key note speaker at the Scottish Business Awards.

Heather McGowan, 32, will join the A-list star at an event being held at a secret location in the Scottish capital on Thursday.

Scotland Bill passes through Commons

The Scotland Bill, promised by opposing party leaders over a year ago, has finally passed on to the House of Lords for final checks.

The bill would allow Scotland to take control of most of its welfare and income tax, as well giving the Holyrood parliament a permanent status, unless the people of Scotland voted to absolve it. Under the current Scotland Act (1998), the parliament could technically be dissolved whenever Westminster sees fit.

Finding Dory trailer released

A trailer for the sequel to the hugely successful Disney Pixar film Finding Nemo has been released. Finding Dory will follow the titular lead (Ellen DeGeneres) as she goes on a quest to find her family. Major characters from the first film will appear in the sequel, including Nemo, Marlin and the “Tank Gang” from the dentist office. Diane Keaton and Idris Elba are confirmed for roles in the film. The film is scheduled for release in July next year.

Boyband Busted to return for 2016 tour

British boyband Busted have announced a reunion tour scheduled for 2016. The announcement comes 11 years after band member Charlie Simpson left in 2005. While the other two members of the band, Matt Willis and James Bourne, have toured with McFly, this will be the first time that all three original members will return on stage together.

Simpson famously quit the band after a 12-night record breaking string of shows at Wembley Arena, calling his time with the band “torture”.
