The Scots have two international dates in November and manager Gordon Strachan is eager to try to play twice.

Jurgen Klinsmann’s side had been lined up for a rematch after last year’s 5-1 mauling in Florida.

But it depended on the USA clinching qualification for Brazil next year because they could have had to negotiate a play-off game
on one of the dates in question.

However, Honduras’s 2-2 draw with Panama meant the US have now qualified directly and are free to take up Scotland’s invitation to travel to Hampden.

The Americans were last in Glasgow for a November 2005 match when Scotland’s Andy Webster cancelled out a Josh Wolff goal and manager Walter Smith’s side settled for a 1-1 draw.

Their only other visit to Glasgow was in 1952 when they crashed 6-0 to a hat-trick by Lawrie Reilly and a double by Ian McMillan.
