SCOTLAND have dropped out of the top 50 ranked teams in the world in the latest FIFA rankings.

Craig Levein’s side dropped down nine places in the list, which was released today, putting the national side in 56th position. Scotland are now behind Libya (53rd), Panama (43rd) and the Cape Verde Islands (51st) following a poor start to their World Cup qualification campaign.

Draws with Macedonia and Serbia mean Scotland face an uphill battle if they are to reach the 2014 finals in Brazil.

Craig Levein’s side take Wales and Belgium away in their next two qualifiers.

England dropped two places to fifth with the republic of Ireland at 28.

Scotland’s group rivals Wales are place behind them on 57 while Northern Ireland rise 12 spots to 117th, despite a 1-1 draw with Luxembourg.
