Rangers’ Stuart McCall linked with Motherwell job

Former Fir Park boss Stuart McCall was the first name to be linked with the post after a club statement announced the departure of Baraclough, who’d been in charge since last December.
Motherwell lost 3-2 at Cappielow on Tuesday amid protests by their fans and currently sit tenth in the Premiership. Under-20s manager Stephen Craigan will be in charge for Saturday’s game against bottom club Partick Thistle.

The club statement thanked Baraclough for his efforts in that showdown but mentioned the importance of two dates coming at the end of this season – the 130th anniversary of the club’s formation and the 21st anniversary of their 1991 Scottish Cup victory.

Other names which were already being linked with the job yesterday included another former Motherwell manager, Terry Butcher, current club captain Keith Lasley, Billy Davies and ex-Rangers boss Ally McCoist.
