The Ibrox manager became the bookmakers favourite to succeed Kit Symons as manager of the London club on Monday, leading to speculation he could be on his way out of Ibrox.

Warburton shrugged off the rumours at first before explicitly stating yesterday that he would not be going anywhere.

He tweeted: “Both bemused and frustrated by shockingly incorrect stories from certain media outlets. I am going nowhere and no club has approached me.”

His comments have now been backed up by the club, who released a short statement through the official website.

It read: “Following almost a week of speculation Rangers would like to make it absolutely clear that no clubs have been in touch seeking permission to speak with our manager Mark Warburton.

“The club cannot prevent speculation but Rangers fans can be assured that Mark’s commitment to the job he has started with Rangers remains total, as he himself has already made clear.”
