Rangers must defeat Hibs, insists Nicky Law

Mark Warburton’s side have failed to win in two successive games after Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Falkirk, allowing their title rivals to join them level on points at the league summit.

Rangers once held an 11 point advantage over Alan Stubbs’ men but have hit a rough patch that’s included only two wins in their last six league games.

The dip in form began when Hibernian inflicted upon them their first league defeat of the season, and Law knows they cannot allow a repeat result next week if they are to remain favourites for the Ladbrokes Championship title.

Law said: “We need to win that game. It’s the biggest game of the season.

“The fans will be huge for us. We need them behind us. Last season in the play-offs, in the home leg against Hibs, the fans were unbelievable. They drove us on, sang from minute one to the final whistle, they were fantastic and we’ll need that again.

“We need everyone to stick with us, the fans included, so we can come back stronger, and I’m sure we will.”

The midfielder came off the bench in the defeat to Falkirk and made an impact on proceedings with the visitors dominating the final 20 minutes, though they remained unable to get past Danny Rogers in the Falkirk goal.

Instead of looking at a plan B for how to attack opponents, Law remains confident that Warburton’s tried and trusted system can get the team back to winning ways if they players execute in the manner they did earlier in the campaign.

“For us, it’s about getting back to the standards we set for ourselves. We’ve dropped well below them,” admitted Law.

“We’ve not been scoring enough and I don’t think we’ve been creating many either, to be honest. The way teams play against us hasn’t changed. They are still making it difficult for us by putting so many men behind the ball. I think we were more clinical at the start of the season.

“The last 30 minutes [against Falkirk] we created a fair few chances, their ‘keeper was unbelievable, but we’re not being clinical enough and we’re giving away more chances than we have for most of the season.”
