Rangers liquidators probe Telfer cash claim

Rangers took Dundee United to a SPFL tribunal after Telfer, 19, moved to Tannadice at the end of his Ibrox contract. Rangers successfully sought damages over their training and development of the player.
The Ibrox side were awarded £204,000—and now BDO will look to see whether it can recoup a portion of that fee because Telfer was at the club between 2006 and 2012, prior to the oldco’s liquidation.

BDO are expected to be forced to lodge their claim directly with newco Rangers, because the SPFL would not have any power to intervene in the dispute.
The SPFL tribunal, in its judgement over Telfer, made no distinction between the oldco, newco and a separate company that ran Rangers’ training facility—Rangers Youth Development Limited—until 2013 before it too was dissolved.
