Motorist killed after A85 fire service van crash

A DRIVER has died in a crash with a fire service van on a rural road.

The 40-year-old man was driving a red Ford Fiesta that collided with a red Mercedes Sprinter van, used by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, on the A85 Crieff to Perth road near Fowlis Wester around 6.20pm on Saturday.

The man died at the scene of the crash and three people who were travelling in the van were taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee for treatment to minor injuries.

The fire service van was returning to Perth from a routine call out when the crash happened, police said.

The road was closed while officers investigated the scene of the crash and they have appealed for any witnesses to contact them.
