Motherwell handed Humphrey boost

Motherwell’s bid for second place in the SPL has been boosted by the return of winger Chris Humphrey after almost three weeks on the sidelines with a hamstring strain.

He starred for the Steelmen’s under-20 side yesterday as they claimed a 3-2 triumph against Hamilton at the Excelsior Stadium in a match which featured four penalty kicks.

Humphrey, who has not featured for the senior side since a 2-1 victory at Hearts on 2 March, now looks set for a return to contention for the trip to Dundee a week on Saturday.

With his manager Stuart McCall assisting Scotland, under-20s manager Jonatan Johansson revealed he spoke to Humphrey before deciding to risk him on Airdrie’s artificial turf.
