The Rangers striker retired from international football a year ago after scoring on his 69th and final appearance against England at Wembley.

Though he has no intention on making a u-turn on that decision, he says he would always be available to help out, should Gordon Strachan ever have a need for him.

Miller believes that it would take an emergency or crisis within the current squad for that to happen, as he believes Strachan’s current crop of young strikers are more than enough to handle the pressure of the upcoming Euro 2016 qualifying campaign.

Speaking with the Daily Record, Miller said: “It’s something I haven’t thought of too much. If you look at the team at the moment things are going fantastic and they’ve got a lot of players in that position coming through. You’ve got Steven Fletcher, Steven Naismith and wee Ross McCormack, who’s just joined Fulham for big money. They’re coming in and doing great. But I made the decision to retire purely on the travel from Vancouver for the games.”

The Rangers striker added he made the decision to retire due to his previous circumstances but returning home obviously changed things. He said: “The MLS doesn’t shut down like our domestic league, so I was maybe missing one or two matches because of the travel. I wanted to be fair to myself, Scotland and Vancouver. I’m back home now but I haven’t really thought about it. If a call came in a time of crisis I’d find it hard to say no because everyone knows what playing for my country meant to me. But I haven’t thought about doing a U-turn. If that call was to ever come I think everybody knows what my answer would be but I won’t be making any calls myself. I believe we’re moving in the right direction and I’m happy to sit back and watch the boys hopefully reach the Euros.”
