Michael Higdon’s 25 goals a rare feat

MOTHERWELL’S Michael Higdon has become the first player to score 25 league goals for a non-Old Firm team in 25 years.

The Englishman is just the fourth player to play outwith Celtic or Rangers to bag 25 goals since the Scottish Premier Division was established in 1975. Dundee’s Tommy Coyne was the last non-Old Firm striker to score at least 25 goals when he netted 33 in 1988.

Doug Somner (25 for St Mirren, 1979-80) and John Robertson (26 for Hearts, 1987-88) were the other two.
