Former Dundee United and Scotland defender Malpas, 52, was assistant to Butcher at Hibs, having previously worked together at Inverness. “It’s terrific that we’ve been able to bring in someone of Maurice’s calibre,” manager Grant Murray told Raith’s official website.

Meanwhile, the Scottish Football Association has distributed around £1.7 million in additional funds to member clubs over the festive period.
